The first thing that I can’t help noticing as I prepare my review on Points2Shop.com is that there is an apparent lack of information with regards to this company, as the most recent observations I noticed were dated back to 2012.
And the second thing is that there appear to be two schools of thought surrounding this survey panel, one hails it as the fully legit company while another one thinks that it is simply a scam in disguise.
So looks like the work is cut out for me. In this review, I will attempt to look deep into the company and address the contrasting characteristics that many people have in mind.
Background & History

P2S was set up in 2007 as a private company. The pioneer staff just measured 11 at that time with the HQ based in Alpharetta, Georgia. Today it boasts of staff strength of about 50 people.
Points2ShopLLC is in the online (as well as mobile) loyalty programs, and it counts as one of the biggest players in this industry.
According to its website, their community counts more than 4.5 million users, spanning some 200 different countries across continents.
The idea to amass such a big community was intended, as it tempts advertisers a large platform for carrying a wide variety of activities like promoting their services/products, conducting market research surveys and commissioning various sorts of crowdsourced activities.
Points2Shop employs a points-based reward system (very similar to SwagBucks.com). Once members complete whatever offers that were asked of them, P2S pays out in points.
Most tasks tend to surround on adding links or banners as specified by the individual advertisers. When the offer is performed and satisfied in full, P2S gets a payment from the advertiser and subsequently pays its members (people who undertake this offer) a share of this collection.
Better Business Bureau’s Rating

I have always stay diligent throughout my reviews here in SurveyGuide, and I always count on the BBB.org website to get an official view of concerned companies.
Currently, the company gets an F rating from the BBB. The company, according to the Better Business Bureau, also had a total of 9 complaints in the last 3 years, all of which have been resolved. Resolved issues are always a good sign that the company cares about its image and its customers.
The Working of P2S

The whole business model behind this operation is fairly straightforward and members are not expected to pay a dime here.
I like it because there is no necessity to reveal your credit card information, which guarantees that there is no chance of automatic deduction from my account no matter what happens.
Most of their offers are free and won’t cost you a dime, except, of course, the trial and shopping offers. To mark these them separately, P2S has created an entirely different section on the website called “Paid offers”, so you don’t get confused with the ones that are completely free.
Upon successful registration, you will also gain automatic membership at Cashle. This website partners Points2Shop to compliment each other.
The big difference across the two is that Cashle payout is in the form of cash, instead of the points system employed by P2S.
How to Earn Points

Every point you earn here equals one cent when you go shopping on Amazon. Before you begin to protest that this is real peanut, Let me help you put things into perspective. Most of the offers here can get completed under 30 seconds, with each offer pays around 40 points on average. So you can see how you can accumulate points quickly.
You will also be entitled to a sign-up bonus of 250 points (that is $2.50 equivalent) upon successful registration at the website and subsequent confirmation of your membership.
By no means, I am suggesting that you can strike rich quickly here. But by choosing to work diligently, you can be in control of the kind of income that you wish to bring in!
Multiple options to earn points are available for your picking:
1. Offers
The most ubiquitous way to earn points is through the completion of various offers. They could be anything like following an embedded link in an email sent to you, participating in and completing surveys, and sometimes sitting in front of your computer and watching videos and advertisements. Unless you hold a strong view against such activities, you would have to agree with me that few other things could just be as easy. Granted, it pays you little but these are great ways to accumulate your earnings. For more gratifying rewards, you may have to check out options such as trial/paid offers and perhaps shopping offers. They could be especially helpful if they involve products that you are already planning to buy!
2. Games
If playing games happen to be your thing, you can take advantage of your favorite pastime and pit your skills against different members on P2S. Here, the games are played for keeps, with the winner takes all. Undoubtedly, this is a quick way to earn lots of points in a short time, assuming you are good. I have to confess that I am pretty clumsy with video games, so for good reason, this is not a favorite option for me.
3. Referrals
Some like the prospect of bringing in new members to the website and enjoy a nice commission (about 50 points) upon successful registration. In fact, if you have plenty of family members and friends to bring to Points2Shop, this could represent a nice way to earn some extra points.
4. Weekly Lottery
Since the lottery is a game of probability, one should not count on it as a dependable source of income. But you may just get lucky. The jackpot grows by $10 every week and there have been cases where lucky members won prizes in excess of a couple of hundred dollars. To be fair, P2S regularly issues free lottery tickets to all its members, so this is not an opportunity that you have to work hard to earn money and Amazon gift cards.
5. Monthly Contests
Every month, P2S will run a contest with the top prize valued at $15. Everyone here will have a fair chance to stake his/her claim, on the assumption that you have accumulated enough points (either through offers completion or referral program) to be included in the contention.
The Honor Levels

Another interesting way to help you gather and redeem your points fast is what they call the honor levels. It is calibrated into various levels and you just have to reach the level required in order to boost your earning. Often, certain tasks are necessary for you to get to an individual level. For example, when you choose to purchase a physical item, that activity will need you to verify your postal address, which is the pre-requisite necessary for you to attain the bronze level.
Bronze is the entry-level while Legend means premium. Every time you move up the ladder, P2S will award you bonus and merit points. Another incentive in moving through these calibrated levels is that P2S will progressively make more interesting and generous offers available to you as you progress.
And it is a good thing that they are on mobile as well. Their apps are available on both Android and Apple devices, so you don’t have to be restricted in front of your PC. With these mobile apps, it means that you can pretty much do the same things on your smartphone or other handheld devices when you are away from your computer. As these apps operate independently, you may just find some exclusive offers that are not registered on the web portal.
Points Redemption

Points earned can be exchanged for prizes from Amazon. It is not straightforward, as you first find the item you want in Amazon, and then you have to search for that same item on Points2Shop.
If the item exists on both survey sites, you just raise a request to the website to purchase the item and P2S will take over from there.
Needless to say, P2S will use the points available in your balance to help pay for that particular item from Amazon.
Now, it is important to point out that there is no straight conversion between points and cash at P2S. Cashle will have to come into the picture if cash is what you are after.
One more noteworthy rule is that you cannot repeat the same offer across the two survey sites, i.e. first on Cashle and then move on to Points2Shop, or vice versa.
There exist a number of online payment mechanisms, which include Alertpay, PayPal, E-Gold, Liberty Reserve, and some other systems.
A full listing of available payment processors available can be found at the website’s “Withdraw Earnings” section, which also includes dfferent related information such as payment methods, terms, fees and minimums required.
Things to Consider
Here are a few things that keeping them in mind will help you avoid problems.
Points2Shop Hack(s) & Cheats
I have stumbled on some videos posted on YouTube that seemingly teach people about Points2Shop hack and tricks. I just say that these tactics will not do you any good if you really want to make money and get Amazon gift cards, and you should just stay clear of them.
To start off, these so-called cheats and hacks provided are simply not practical and very likely they will not work in a real environment. Even if they do, you don’t want to run foul of the law. Yes, such tricks tend to be borderline cases and you may just yourself on the wrong side of the law as these are often deemed theft.
Telemarketers Calls
One more thing that you ought to be wary about is the widespread use of telemarketing activities. The company makes no bone about collecting money from advertisers, who obviously need a substantial user base (you and me) to help preach their products and services. I have heard that these telemarketer folks are pretty aggressive and make plenty of calls to their members.
To avoid the unnecessary hassles on your home phone, a different phone number (other than your home phone) is useful when you do the registration with P2S. There are plenty of free phone numbers online through websites like k7.net. But there are regulations and laws surrounding telemarketer calls. You can also get on the national registry of do not call list, for example.

Account Termination
I feel some warnings are appropriate after coming across a few online complaints on the site. Some are pretty upset with their accounts being labeled as “cheater”, when nobody in the company bothers to explain what it means.
I did not encounter this problem personally, but I was certainly surprised to see a fair bit of frustration on this issue online
In one specific incident, an ex-member claimed that the “cheater” label was thrown at him as he went about his business to redeem his points. This is the only incident where there was a member who attempted to explain the extraordinary phenomenon, but I think it is useful for you to know.
So, is Points2Shop a Legitimate Site for You to Join?
I guess you would now want to read and see me draw a conclusion of my research on P2S, and I will not disappoint here.
My investigation spanned 4 weeks from the time I registered as a fresh member. I’ve used their paid trial offers a few times and have these items came through my doorstep from Points2Shop. No big deal, as these are not what you would call premium quality products. But to be fair, I held my expectations low, so this did not turn out as a nasty surprise.
To put it plainly, no site will reward you enough to buy an Apple phone in exchange for 10 minutes of your life, certainly not P2S. But imagine you have nothing better to do and can spare 10 minutes filling up mysurveys or playing video games, your effort will go a long way to accumulate points that enable you to purchase stuff from Amazon.
You have to read take the long view if you are serious enough about this money-making proposition on the web. It is a habit and discipline you must incorporate into your lifestyle so that every 20 minutes every day, you are chalking points at P2S.
So the bottom line is that P2S can be a workable proposition if you have enough zest and discipline to carry you through. But if your intent is to earn serious money (or even Amazon gift cards), I would suggest you look another way.
Based in Austin Texas I have been writing about taking surveys online since 2014. In my spare time I love photography, running and more recently spending time with my wife and two children.
